HISTORIC WHITTENTON MILLS

Adaptive Mixed-Use Development Opportunity

Whittenton Mills consists of 32 contiguous buildings, with approximately 500,000 square feet of space, located on 42 acres surrounding the banks of the Mill River.  It is located at 437 Whittenton Street, Taunton, Massachusetts, within a targeted employment area. The Whittenton Mills Project will be a transformative, adaptive reuse development of a parcel of real estate that is deeply rooted with American historical value.  As such, this project will contribute greatly to the economic growth and revitalization of the City of Taunton, Massachusetts, with the additional benefit of Historic Tax Credits.

Due to Taunton’s proximity between the cities of Providence, Rhode Island and Boston, Massachusetts, the Whittenton Mills Project presents an opportunity as a catalyst for development growth among a rapidly changing area.  With the currently under-development South Coast Rail Project, Taunton will have rail line transit access directly to South Station in Boston for the first time since 1958.  Under Phase 1, East Taunton Station, located approximately 5 miles from the Whittenton Mills Project site, is currently due for completion by 2023.  Under Phase 2 of the South Coast Rail Project, there will be an additional station located approximately 2 miles from the Whittenton Mills Project site.
